There are a few important items below with regard to the Plainedge Fire teams, so please read all the way through and please email us if you have any questions.
1) Due to the rain-outs of last weekend, here are the new date and times
8U - Saturday May 11th John West 11:00-12:30 and Sunday May 19th 3:00pm at John West
10U - Saturday May 11th John West 3:00-5:30 and Wednesday May 15th 6:30pm at John West
12U - Saturday May 11th John West 1:00-2:30 and Wednesday May 15th 6:30pm at John West You must make one of the two times to play for the Plainedge Fire
2) When you arrive you must sign in at the shack.
3) Please have the girls wear their intramural jerseys . We know a lot of the girls, but we use this to identify many of them.
4) Be prepared to wait at the shack while they try-out. We want to girls to play free of distraction. The try-out will be anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half.
5) With all the rain we have been having, if it rains before or during one of these try-outs it will be very hard to reschedule again. Unless the weather is so bad that we can't do anything we will try to push through these dates (run them on the grass, if the field is not available).
Also, we have many parents ask us if this is the right environment for their kids, and many who shy away from the try-outs because of words like "try-outs", "tournament" and "competitive". To them I always say that while we wish we could take everyone (and we try to accommodate and form as many teams as we can), it's OK to try-out and not make it, and we urge that you use it as motivation to improve in the off-season if softball is something they really enjoy. I also believe and have seen it first hand that playing more than the just the Spring is the best way for players to develop and improve.
